Parents who are going through a separation or divorce and have a child or children may find themselves at odds with each other if one parent is a Film or TV worker who does not have regular work hours.
Even when both parents are collaborating with each other in terms of childcare for the benefit of the child, changes in the parenting times and parenting days for each parent may become more challenging for both parents when not living under the same roof.
When one of the parents works in film, they may be dealing with several challenges in terms of managing their own time alone, even without considering the challenges of spending time with their child during a typical workweek.
Depending on the union or non-union position the parent holds, the flexibility of thier supervisor, the type of project they are working on, their seniority, the shooting hours, whether they have Day Call or Show Call employment, their calltimes (are th regualr or do they shift day by day), the distance to the set or workplace, and their shift lengths (are they fixed or varying hours), parents in film are likely to require some form of assistance with child care.

In Summary
Many factors coalesce for parents in films when planning for childcare. There are often solutions to each challenge with your employer, and deciding how to manage your absence from home by utilzing different types or combintions of childcare can then be considered and presented.
